The Jetty

Our pontoon and bridge were purchased and constructed at the Tyne and Wear docks at South Shields in 2005. The pontoon was floating in the dock area and had to be lifted, checked and transported to Lochgoilhead where it was again lifted by crane and dropped over the wall at the site of the old wooden jetty.

The 8 metre access bridge was constructed in South Shields and transported in two parts to Lochgoilhead where it was bolted together before being lowered in place.

The entire structure is secured at the sea end by four anchors and chained and bolted at the land end.

The whole structure is much stronger and heavier than necessary for its purpose but lies secure even in the worst of the winter storms allowing safe shore access in all weathers.
